Flat Flexible Cable Applications
Flat Flexible cable is typically used to connect a number of data and/or power points in a small, light weight, flexible package. It can easily be folded and fit into tight spaces. Further, FFC can be coiled and heat formed for use in sliding drawers or clock spring mechanisms. Some current uses of FFC are as follows:
- Automotive markets
Clockspring mechanisms, Head liners - Aerospace and Defense
Specialized harnesses combining shielded data lines and power lines - Consumer Electronics
Where high density and flexibility are important as devices get smaller. - Instrumentation and Measurement
- Medical Machinery and Equipment
- Industrial Machinery and Equipment
- Commercial and Building Equipment
- Lighting
LEDs may be soldered to FFC at regular intervals to provide a string of lights in a flat profile.
